“I wrap my arms around my body, holding tight, and acknowledge that once again nature has taught me for as I prepare to leave this small Spanish village following a month of contemplation, I know I am leaving with the answers needed and the olive-shaped word rootedness firmly imprinted on my heart.”
I have been busy working on an article for Plants are Magic Magazine about my love for olive trees: where our journey together began, how they make me feel and most importantly, what they teach me.
It really is a blessing to be able to write from the heart and with deep honesty for nourishing publications such as this and I wish I could share it sooner than I will be able to, if only because it explains what’s been going on in our world since being in, and returning from, Spain, more than a month ago.
Alas, it won’t be out for a while yet, but hopefully I'll manage to get a little letter together sometime in March or April :-)
Sometimes I write an article for a magazine that really leaves me with a warm glow inside... Plants Are Magic is one such magazine.
Filled with inspiration for greater connection to the earth, you will find articles from artisans the world over so I was thrilled when Editor, Rebecca Desnos, asked me to write about the story behind my handcrafted family business Little Loquat.
My article 'Beauty in Nature' appeared in an issue focused on local and you can read it by clicking the image above.
Voices from the Grid is an anthology of short stories all set in Milton Keynes and all written by local writers. I'm thrilled and very proud to finally see my story 'Barefoot in the City' in print as part of this collection and to be part of a little bit of history from my hometown.
A wonderful memento of Milton Keynes life, if you would like a copy for yourself or to give as a gift they can be purchased for £5 from:
Community Learning MK
And if you telephone them, they will post a copy out to you :-)
My latest article for JUNO Magazine ~ I am Consciously Unplugged and I am Conscious ~ is all about my need to switch off from technology and the busyness of life and reconnect; with nature, my family, myself... and how I achieve this on the waterways of England.
It is now available to read right here.
My most recent article for Canal Boating Times ~ My Waterways ~ is now available to read right here.
This month’s Bird Watching Magazine (October 2016) includes a little article from me about my experiences bird-watching from my narrowboat. It was written a while back after a trip from the Grand Union up to the Shropshire Union… reading it now takes me back to that glorious spring/summer on the water.
Available in WH Smith and various other newsagents, I’ll also post a copy to read here, sometime in October.
I recently wrote an article for the lovely JUNO magazine and it appears in this months issue ~ September 2016.
It’s all about my trip from the North to South of England by narrowboat and how it gave me a much-needed break from the busyness that life can be, and particularly from technology and that feeling of being ‘always on’.
It’s about switching off and reconnecting with the people around us and nature.
You can pick copies up at WH Smith, independent shops and also direct from their website and you will be able to read the article on my website in December.
JUNO is a natural parenting magazine and always makes for an interesting, thought-provoking and inspiring read.
My latest article was written for Canal Boating Times and is all about raising children on narrowboats.
I have spent many years living on narrowboats (on and off) and love every minute of it. In particular I actively chose such a lifestyle for my young daughter and feel she has benefited greatly from living on the canal and I can't recommend narrowboat life enough for other families looking for a different way.
I hope you enjoy!
Here I like to muse about life, share news of my writing projects and showcase nature-inspired jewellery & gifts from my family micro-business, Little Loquat.
